WFMW- Holiday Laughs (And a book giveaway)

GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED!

Our family is big on laughs. We have silly little traditions that we follow through with each and every Christmas. Like my mother's marathon Christmas Eve breakfast (you either laugh or cry at having to be up so early), singing for our presents (we can't open them until we all do), and reading this particular book before the mad opening of presents begins.

Cajun Night Before Christmas is just a terribly funny spin on Twas The Night Before Christmas, only Cajun style. Someone gave the book to my aunt one year, so we break it out every Christmas Eve when we gather at her home for our celebration.

Let's face it, ya'll. The holidays can be enough to send anyone screaming into the night. Let's not go there this year. Let us be merry! And bright!

I know this book would bring a smile to your face and a laugh to your lips. And I want that for you this holiday season! So..I'm giving away a brand new copy of Cajun Night Before Christmas to one of you lucky readers!

Just leave a comment here. You can even tell me something funny about your Christmas traditions if you want. I'll take comments until Thursday at 11 PM Central and annouce the winner Friday morning.

And go here to see more great Works For Me Wednesday tips and add your own!

sounds like a fun book...our Christmases are pretty boring around these parts...I'd be glad to have something to liven things up.

Good Morning Mommy,
Oh, please enter me into the pot for this Book Giveaway. I bet it is a good book. I like how you all have to literally sing for your presents. That is just too cool. We don't have any funny traditions around here. Unless someone says something funny, it's pretty much eating and visiting and opening presents. Take care my friend and have a great Wednesday. May God Bless You and Yours.

Hugs,
Karen H.

Hi! Everything's funny with the combined four under four we have running around! Thanks!

We love this book! As a matter of a fact, I just requested it from the library yesterday in hopes we will have it in time for my son's visit. We often quote, "tripped over the dorg and fell on de flo'." I don't know why I have never bought it, but if I don't win here, I will order it with the Amazon gift card I won last month!

:) The book sounds hilarious. I love the cover. We are a family that likes to laugh together and we generally fart together too. I think we are all in denial about the fact that milk causes gas in our family. Anyway does that qualify as funny or just gross? Merry Christmas!

I have no funny traditions, but I can recall the sweet memories of every Christmas Eve when I was little we would all lay under the Christmas tree and stare up at the lights and talk about what we hoped Santa would bring us. I am actually starting that tradition with my little man this year!

We are "hunker down at home in your jammies" kind of people around here, but we do enjoy books!!

Cajun Night Before Christmas sounds like a riot...LOL

We always read the original on Christmas Eve- this would be a fun addition!

JoAnn December 19, 2007 10:25 AM

We don't really have many traditions so adding one, especially a funny one, would be great. One tradition we do have is buying a new ornament each year (it will be about something that happened that year) and giving the kids new Christmas pjs on Christmas Eve.

That is just so neat. I love the idea of making everyone sing before they open their presents. I just might have to give it a try. Being goofy is great!

This looks like a great book! Thanks for the contest! :)

Really, the only thing that some people consider 'funny' about Christmas in our house is that I absolutely refuse to play anything but Christmas music from Thanksgiving until New Years. I'm lucky that my husband loves to see me happy and turns the stereo to everything Christmas for me! :) I still act like a kid when it comes to Christmas!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today! This book sounds hilarious! Our traditions always seem to change a bit each year, depending on whether my husband has to work or not. This year he has nine days off beginning Christmas Eve evening! We are SO excited!!! In law enforcement they are rarely off for the holidays.

Have a blessed holiday!

Sounds like a fun book! We always have a talent show on Christmas Eve - the kids usually do serious talent by showcasing their piano, violin and singing pieces learned through the year. The fun part comes when the adults attempt to top the acts of the previous year. We've had lip synching to Dean Martin Christmas songs, "Uncle Eddie" (think Christmas Vacation) made an appearance with fake teeth and thrift store clothes where he played the violin and sang although he ain't never had a lesson in his life! The best was my Dad playing a toddler's electronic trumpet to a recorded Christmas song...the kids thought he was really doing it even though the trumpet had only one working key and he was using all five fingers to play! You probably had to be there but we have lots of fun with almost 30 members of our immediate family! Thanks for prompting the memories and I love yours of singing before presents! Happy Holidays!

Awesome!

We don't have funny traditions...but visiting my husband's family is very different than Christmas with my family. We have a traditional Southern meal with hubbie's family, play games, open presents...very traditional, warm, and family-oriented.

My family usually takes a trip somewhere

Hello, Oh, I really want to win this book. My husband is an Air Force brat and has lived in many places. He was born in Biloxi. When we first started dating and Christmas came around, he asked if I ever had heard of this book?! I hadn't. It brought it to my home and read it to me in a Cajun voice. His family does not know where the book is. I would love to give him this book!!!!! Thanks,Cindi
