WFMW- Idiot Proof Meal Planning

Lest you think my family starves, I can cook and I do...I just don't like to. I'm also terribly unimaginative when it comes to meal planning. I'm sure Cracked Daddy and EB would enjoy a wider variety of dishes. And sometimes, you just have a cabinet and fridge full of stuff but no idea what to make with it.

Cooking By Numbers is my new best friend. All I have to do is visit the site and put a little check in the box beside what ingredients I already have, and it magically comes up with several different recipes for those ingredients. It also suggests dishes that I could make if I could add a few more things. I think it's a great little tool when you're feeling stuck in a cooking rut or just plain have no idea what to cook.

And it's free, y'all.

I do enjoy cooking, but the worst part for me is deciding WHAT to cook, so this looks great. Thanks.

Do you mind if I profess my love for you right now?
We have needed to go to the grocery for about a week now and I've been cleaning out the fridge and pantry to come up with meals until we get a chance to go.
I just did a test run and came up with a great idea for breakfast: An Herby Omellete!

Good Morning Mandy,
I love to cook myself. The only problem is that we don't have a store here that has alot of the ingredients needed to use in a recipe. So, that leaves that out. Sometimes, I just experiment with food. LOL. I know it sounds crazy, but I have come up with some recipes that are very good. Me and hubby did that for my Cabbage Casserole. I wish you much luck on your cooking adventure. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.

Hugs,
Karen H.

I posted about meal planning, too! Mine doesn't sound like as much fun as this, though! Thanks for the tip.

Oh my gosh, I love you. I love to cook, but creativity does not necessarily go hand-in-hand with loving to do something. I am by the numbers all the way. I put in everything I had in the cupboard and frig and it gave me a wonderful Chicken and Tarragon Pasta recipe which I will make tonight. Thanks.

I love this site! I found it a few months ago and use it when my creative powers have been used up!

I can't wait to try this out! I never know what to cook when I don't have something already planned (or *someone* forgot to defrost the meat) because while I like to cook, I work from recipes only! Thanks so much.

Wow! Great to see there's someone else without a supreme passion for cooking!

Thanks for the tip!

That is cool! Next week I plan on sharing MY meal planning secret on WFMW!!

And yes, we are TTC - thanks for asking. Would you mind offering up a little prayer?

Wow ... what a great idea! I hate cooking too and deciding what to make is nearly as bad.

YES!! Another mom who doesn't like to cook! I *heart* you, friend! :)

I use http://savingdinner.com. She tells me what's for dinner and even makes my shopping list for me. I *heart* her too. ;)
